Dear Deb, I am 24 and married with a child. My wife and I have sex pretty regularly but I still masturbate when I'm in the shower and when I'm alone. Is this normal? -Joshua |

Dear Joshua, There is nothing abnormal about masturbation. Whether you are single, in a relationship or married, most people with fulfilling sex lives masturbate sometimes. Masturbation can be a great way to clear your head and relieve tension. Pleasing yourself is also a very different experience from having sex with a partner and can be great for your personal sexual exploration. You don't have to worry about pleasing anybody but yourself. As long as it's not distracting you from your work, friends, or physical relationship with a partner, don't worry about it. Masturbation, even when you have a healthy sex life with a partner, is totally normal. Cheers, Deb
